MEDISLAND brings together innovation agencies, tourism clusters and public authorities from several Mediterranean islands to develop and test data-driven smart tourism tools.

Fundació BIT coordinates the pilots in the Balearic Islands, where indicators on visitor flows, mobility and resource consumption are analysed to help destinations plan the season better.

Objectives

  • Build a shared dashboard of tourism sustainability indicators for island destinations.
  • Run pilots on five islands and compare their results.
  • Transfer the tools to public authorities and tourism businesses.

Results

First version of the indicator dashboard up and running and pilots under way in the Balearic Islands, Sardinia, Crete, Cyprus and Malta.
